week 2

time flies so fast!

as of yesterday, i've been working at SMART for two weeks already! i can't believe it! hehe.

and to top it all off, i got my first paycheck last wednesday. hehe. i had no idea about the taxes and all the deductions from my salary! the amount i got was lower than expected but it's just right i guess. i was able to give some money to my parents and brother with just enough for me to splurge a little (hair tretament and hair cut hehe). plus there's still some left for my upcoming island cove outing with my ie groupmates and my basic needs for the next few days until i get my next paycheck.whew.

i've realized that work at smart is very hectic. it's very common that my officemates have overtime to finish their tasks. i belong to CPG-PDSS-SAQM-Networks (convergent platforms group , platforms development and support services department, service analysis and quality managament team, networks subteam). We're mainly in charge of the new products and processes at SMART and since the company's expanding (25000000 strong ;p) there's lots and lots of work to be done. hehe

but even if the work is hectic, the environment is very fun and light. my officemates are very nice and you can freely talk with your supervisors as if they're your friends. plus smart is a very good employer. they have many benefits and promos. in the short time that i've worked there, there's already been a grocery promo and even a planned movie outing for april birthday celebrants (Spiderman 3!). plus there's the various freebies in the pantry such as the nescafe vendo machine which shells out hot and cold drinks for free. i've become addicted to choco latte in a span of two weeks. mababaw at matakaw.hehe

so there. i'm looking forward to my next week in smart. as of the moment, as part of my training all i've done is testing for the various processes in smart. they say that once i've mastered testing, the other parts in the systems development life cycle will be easy for me. hehe.

I Love Rubber Bands

By Bo Sanchez

Let me tell you a crazy story I heard recently.
There's this husband Who out of sheer love for his
wife decided to prove it to her. So he swam the
widest oceans, crossed the deepest rivers, and
climbed the highest mountains to show his deep
devotion to her.

But in the end, she divorced him.

Why?

Because he was never home. (Get it?)

Let me tell you an experience I had as a kid. One
day, I asked Mom, "Why do my shoes keep eating my
socks?" As a young boy, that was always a mystery
for me. All my other classmates never had that
problem. Their socks remained tight and high up
their legs the entire day.

Mom didn't answer my question but simply gave me
two rubber bands, which I dutifully placed around
the top of my socks. To this day, fifteen years
later, I still have permanent circle marks around my
legs. But aside from giving me this slight defect,
the two bands worked like magic.

It never occurred to me that Dad and Mom didn't
have the money to buy a new pair of socks for me. So
I wore five-year-old socks, all soggy, grayish, and
garter less. And yet amazingly, I never complained.
I believe it was because Dad was always home when I
needed him. Every night, after coming from work,
we'd jog together, sit around, and talk about
Tarzan, Farrah Fawcett Majors, God, and what I
wanted to be when I grew up (a stockholder). On
Saturdays, we'd walk to Cubao, eat a
hotdog-on-a-stick, and buy new rubber bands before
going home.

I've learned that in truth, we don't want our
loved ones to show their love for us in big ways.
Swimming the widest oceans, crossing the deepest
rivers, and climbing the highest mountains seem
pectacular - but that's not what we really want.
Deep in our hearts, we just want them home. With us.

Sometimes, God will operate that way. Suddenly, He
decides not to answer our prayers, or fill our need,
or heal our sickness, or give us the miracle we're
asking for. (He's got reasons why He won't, and
believe me - they're pretty good ones.) So He'll
just be there beside you, holding you in a hug.
Sharing your pain. Weeping as you weep.

Oh, He might give you some rubber bands. And that
small comfort from Him will be more than enough to
sustain you.

Because the most essential truth you already know.

...home.

coincidentally, my faith has been kinda rocky these days..

but today, i know God gave me a rubberband. :D

ang kulet

ang kulet lang, na-experience ko yung first video call ko kanina haha. cool! i was watching my mentor, ms. jucyn, while she was testing and fortunately, one of the cases involved video calling! hehe.

abaw. seems like dapat tlga magpaka-high tech na ako. if i had the money (and the right type of phone!), i would use the service, it definitely gives a new meaning to personal calls. hehe. mushy mushy again.

oh! and i was formally introduced to the people who interviewed me for my smart application today. they're all super pretty! hehe.

true love

it's my parents' 25th wedding anniversary today. we didn't have a grand celebration, just ate dinner together to give thanks for the wonderful years that they've shared.

while eating, i saw my parents and there was a different kind of glow just radiating from them. makes me wish that someday i'd find my prince charming who will definitely be for keeps...

for 25 years to forever.. :D

"i love you to the stars and back" haha. looks like we got a very tired and mushy charity this evening.

firsts

random thoughts about my first day in smart

- first thing i noticed, ang gaganda nung girls! hehe. but seriously kaka-conscious. esp my immediate superior, ang ganda! not the gorgeous type but the quiet, radiating beauty, which for me is more appealing

- mababait naman ang mga tao. whew! kala ko kasi may mataray or mangtrtrip since new hire ako. good thing wala and they're all friendly

- they always talk on the phone/celphones to conduct business, they look so professional! hehe. i hope i'd look like that when i've truly penetrated the smart system ;p

- you need techie knowledge (what did i expect? SMART is a telecomm company! hehe)

- may cute! hahaha

more detailed stories about my first day to come hopefully when i'm free and all my i2k7 responsibilities are over. plus have lots of reading to do, so i can catch up with the projects the team i belong to (network services) handles.

aja! :D

cornballs

dinnertime

charity: kelangan ko ng bag for work. nakup lagot
daddy: gamitin mo yung samsonite ko, maganda un.
aaron: ang problema sa samsonite panglalaki eh. dapat delilahday.

:))) hahahaha. gets? gets? ang corny ni aaron!

friendship is the sweetest thing

had dinner at a'venetto last night with dax, tin, albert, edward and karen to celebrate my birthday in advance. super busog. hehe. and dahil birthday ko, i was able to force them (dax, tin and albert that is, cause edward and karen had to go home early) to watch Ang Cute ng Ina Mo with me. hehe. It's funny cause none of them really like watching Filipino movies so they were teasing about me having the upper hand since it was my birthday, that i was sort of forcing them into watching. Haha. But on the serious side, it was really touching cause I knew that in some way, they did it (watched the movie) for me. aww.

****************

today, was extremely touched by the onslaught of text greetings from my friends. What made me more touched was when 2 of my friends, daniel cortez and mike cocjin, called sa celphone just to greet me. i thanked daniel for calling me and he said "kelangan kasi kunin yung mga opportunities na magkakarinigan tayo ng boses". grabe, nanikip dibdib ko.

grabe noh. ang sarap tlga ng may friends :D
